Uncommon Skin Dichotomy: Dry Skin and Acne

Some things in life just naturally go hand-in-hand, such as:

• Peanut Butter & Jelly
• Spaghetti & Meatballs
• Milk & Cookies
• Polka Dots & Stripes (ok, maybe not)

And some things not so much… like acne and dry skin.

Acne is far more prevalent among those with oily skin than dry. In fact, most skin care products on the market that address acne are generally catered to oily skin.

One of the aspects that sets Mario Badescu apart from the rest is that we take a customized approach to skin care… and we take it very seriously. We know that no two complexions are identical, necessitating a unique skin care regimen that addresses specific skin care needs.

Although dry skin coupled with acne is uncommon, it can and does exist. It can be a challenging skin situation; here is a recommended skin care regimen that helps combat acne yet won’t compromise the dry factor and vice versa:

Cleanse
In the A.M., choose our Seaweed Cleansing Soap and for the P.M., use our Acne Facial Cleanser. The Seaweed Cleansing Soap is a creamy, gentle formula that is ideal for all skin types. It is a go-to morning cleanser that refreshes the skin without aggravating any breakouts.

As its name indicates, the Acne Facial Cleanser helps fight acne, yet it won’t dry out the skin since it contains moisture-binding hyaluronic acid.

Tone
Tone it up with our Seaweed Cleansing Lotion. It contains witch hazel to disinfect the pores and help yield clearer skin.

Moisturize
A simple, oil-free moisturizer is your best bet to hydrate the skin without potentially exacerbating any breakouts. Try our Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 30 for daytime and our Oil-Free Moisturizer for night.

Treat
If your skin is in dire need of extra hydration, you can treat it with our Herbal Hydrating Serum. Unlike most serums that are meant to be applied underneath a moisturizer, our Herbal Hydrating Serum is unique in that it is meant to be layered over a moisturizer. It is perfect for dry/acne-prone skin since it is oil-free and super hydrating.

Attack the Acne
To help eradicate pesky blemishes, we have several spot treatments and other products to choose from:

Flower & Tonic Mask- Help prevent your pores from clogging with our Flower & Tonic Mask, a purifying formula. It contains Kaolin Clay to help draw out impurities and promote less congested skin.

Healing & Soothing Mask- If you also struggle with redness associated with acne, try our Healing & Soothing Mask two to three times a week. It contains two anti-inflammatories: Balsam Peru and Seaweed Extract.

Buffering Lotion- Our Buffering Lotion is a spot treatment that addresses cystic breakouts (painful, under-the-surface bumps that are often red and inflamed).

Drying Lotion- If and when a whitehead(s) erupts, our Drying Lotion will help save the day. It is a spot treatment that helps dry up whiteheads while you sleep. It is one of our bestsellers because of its fast-acting quality.

Drying Cream- The Drying Cream is a unique, dual-purpose formula as it helps dry up small bumps and blemishes while helping to conceal them.

Anti-Acne Serum- Apply this serum on parts of your face that are prone to breaking out. Our Anti-Acne Serum contains Salicylic Acid to help prevent breakouts from occurring.

If you’re dry and acne-prone, lay your frustrations aside and try our suggested regimen!
