Some acne treatments have been around for millennia—and with good reason. Sulfur, for example, was used by the ancient Egyptians and is still in use today as an effective method of clearing acne. Can you believe that some of the Pharaohs suffered from acne? Salicylic Acid is a bit newer, but has been in use for over a century now.
Other treatments for acne have fallen out of widespread favor, and fortunately so. We never thought we’d use the word ‘urine’ on this pristine blog, yet there it is (we’re cringing). In use since the 17th century as a skin care solution, it is used by soaking a cotton ball with the substance and applying it like a toner.
Oddly enough, this treatment has gained steam on the Internet in recent years. We implore you to ignore bizarre acne ‘cures’ and instead stick to a solid regimen of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing with the right products!
Other bizarre acne treatments we found on the Internet*:
Applying Bacon to the affected area (this one confounds me completely).
