Skin Sin Series: Tanning

tanning
Not to boast, but I’m blessed with a natural tan, so thankfully I’ve never had to worry about incorporating a tanning salon in my beauty budget or marinating myself at the beach. Granted, a bronzed visage (and bod) is seemingly the most coveted skin tone, but personally I think an alabaster complexion is just as beautiful.

If you happen to be one of millions who would give their right arm to swap skin with Eva Longoria, perhaps you’ve already attempted to achieve that golden glow. If so, hopefully you’ve opted for sunless tanners and avoided UV rays like the plague. If not, keep reading to get affectionately rebuked on this skin felony you’ve committed.

You’ve heard it a zillion times before and I’m going to preach it again—Ultraviolet radiation exposure can cause a wide array of serious ramifications, including melanoma and various other skin cancers, premature signs of aging, rough skin texture and age spots. Hopefully none of the above will be the case, but the more you bake, the greater the risk you take.

Here at Mario Badescu Skin Care, we have a penchant for preserving and promoting beautiful skin (obviously), one bottle of moisturizer at a time. In honor of abstaining from tanning, check out our range of products from sunless tanners to sun block.

Remember, daily use of sunscreen in conjunction with a proper skin care regimen can cover a multitude of skin sins, my friends.

Think you might be committing other skin sins? Are you neglecting to exfoliate? Are you washing your face with (gasp!) bar soap? Do you think you don’t need moisturizer? Find out why these are some of the biggest mistakes you can make when it comes to achieving beautiful, glowing skin.

  3. I agree, an alabaster skin tone is just as desirable as a golden tan, for instance Anne Hathaway has helped to popularise the paler complexion. Even if you want darker skin there is no reason to expose yourself to UV rays, as a lot of sunless tans are now available which can create the same effect. Perhaps this is why tanning beds are losing their appeal as of late.
